Terms of Service.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account or using ViewerChoiceCinema, you agree to these Terms. Account registration requires an explicit acceptance of the current Terms of Service and acknowledgement of the Privacy Policy. We may record the date and version accepted. If you do not agree, do not create or use an account.

ViewerChoiceCinema is an independently operated project and is not a registered charity or nonprofit organisation.

2. Age requirements

If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian before making any financial contribution, Tip or recurring support payment connected to ViewerChoiceCinema. Tipeee may apply its own age, account and payment rules in addition to ours.

3. Accounts and profiles

You must use an email address that you control and complete email verification before the account is treated as verified. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure.

Public display names and usernames are unique within ViewerChoiceCinema. Usernames must contain 4 to 24 letters, numbers or underscores. We may refuse, rename or remove names that impersonate another person or project, are misleading, abusive, infringing or reserved for system use.

Your chosen display name may be shown on your profile and used as your visible community identity. Do not create multiple accounts to bypass voting, request, moderation or other service restrictions.

4. Requests, votes and community features

ViewerChoiceCinema allows users to search for titles, submit movie or series requests and participate in community voting. Submitting a request or casting a vote does not guarantee that a title will be approved, featured, selected or watched.

For each title, ViewerChoiceCinema is designed to allow no more than one counted vote per account and no more than one counted vote per network or IP identity. For abuse prevention, an IP address may be transformed server-side into a one-way identifier. The voting record uses that derived identifier rather than keeping the readable IP address as the vote identity.

This rule can affect people sharing the same public IP address, such as members of the same household, school, workplace or some mobile networks. We accept that VPNs or other network changes cannot be prevented perfectly. Deliberately using multiple accounts, VPNs, proxies, automation or similar methods to manipulate rankings remains prohibited.

If you vote before signing in and later sign in from the same browser or network, ViewerChoiceCinema may link that earlier vote to your account rather than counting a second vote. We may merge duplicate requests, correct title metadata, reject unsuitable submissions, remove spam, reverse manipulated votes and moderate content when reasonably necessary.

5. Acceptable use

You may not use ViewerChoiceCinema to:

• break applicable law or encourage unlawful activity;
• harass, threaten, abuse or target other people;
• upload malicious code, interfere with security or attempt unauthorised access;
• automate voting, manipulate rankings or evade one-vote or anti-abuse controls;
• create accounts or identities primarily to bypass restrictions;
• submit content that infringes another person's rights;
• scrape or overload the service in a way that harms normal operation.

6. Supporting ViewerChoiceCinema through Tipeee

Financial support is voluntary. ViewerChoiceCinema may use Tipeee to process one-time or recurring Tips and rewards. The actual payment transaction is handled by Tipeee and its payment partners, not by ViewerChoiceCinema.

A Tip does not buy ownership, equity, decision-making rights or guaranteed influence over ViewerChoiceCinema. Any reward is limited to what is specifically described on the relevant Tipeee reward at the time of support.

By using Tipeee, you also agree to Tipeee's own terms and payment rules. Review those rules before contributing.

7. Refunds and cancellations

Payments made through Tipeee are primarily governed by Tipeee's terms, payment rules and applicable law.

Tipeee currently states that a one-time Tip cannot be cancelled after it has been made. Recurring Tips can be cancelled or changed through Tipeee for future billing, subject to Tipeee's billing timing rules. Cancelling a recurring Tip does not necessarily reverse a payment that was already due for an earlier support period.

8. Content you submit

You keep ownership of text or other original material you submit, such as a reason for requesting a title. By submitting it, you grant ViewerChoiceCinema a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, format, moderate and use that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the relevant ViewerChoiceCinema feature.

You may request removal of personal content that identifies you, subject to the Privacy Policy and any legal retention requirements.

9. Third-party services and metadata

ViewerChoiceCinema relies on third-party services, including Supabase, Resend, Tipeee, hosting providers and TMDB. Their own terms and privacy practices may apply when you interact with them.

Movie and TV metadata may be supplied by TMDB. ViewerChoiceCinema is not endorsed or certified by TMDB unless explicitly stated otherwise.

10. Service availability and changes

ViewerChoiceCinema is an evolving independent project. Features may be changed, replaced, limited, paused or discontinued. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every feature will remain permanently available.

11. Suspension, account deletion and removal

We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance or serious violations of these Terms.

You may permanently delete your account from the profile area. This is not a temporary deactivation. When completed, the active authentication account, profile, stored profile picture and identifiable account-linked community records are removed as described in the Privacy Policy. Limited information may still be retained when required by law, needed for legal claims or security, or temporarily present in protected backups until those backups expire.

12. Disclaimers and liability

ViewerChoiceCinema is provided on an "as available" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for indirect losses, third-party outages, external services, inaccurate third-party metadata or events outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits mandatory consumer rights.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without taking away any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under the law of your country of residence.
